Hamilton Medical Center’s Surgical Services provides you with excellent care.
At Hamilton Medical Center, we strive to ensure that our guests of our patients are comfortable, informed, and well taken care of.
After you have checked in at the front desk of Admissions, you will check in with the surgery receptionist located at the entrance of the surgery waiting area. Please provide a working phone number for the surgery guest who will receive updates throughout your visit.
All guests will wait comfortably in the surgery waiting area during the surgical procedure, where our staff will take excellent care of the patient. Our surgery receptionist, Nurse Navigators, and Nursing Leaders are available to provide updates and answer any questions. Guests will receive updates on the surgery status every hour until the procedure is completed unless the procedure lasts less than an hour. Once the surgery is finished, the surgeon will inform you of the outcome and discuss the next steps, including hospital admission or discharge plans.
Our Nurse Navigators
Hamilton’s nurse navigators are a unique resource and a helping hand. Our goal is to provide one-on-one expert care throughout surgery to help you achieve an optimal surgical outcome.

For outpatient procedures: Once the patient is ready to leave the recovery area, a Registered Nurse will escort them to the post-operative area for monitoring before they go home. Guests are welcome to join the patient at this time. Discharge instructions for the patient’s individualized post-operative care will be provided. Additionally, an electronic copy of the After Visit Summary, including discharge instructions and follow-up appointments, can be accessed through Epic’s MyChart smartphone app.
For procedures that require hospital admission: The recovery room nurse will contact the appointed surgery guest with the patient’s room number. A staff member will assist guests in finding the inpatient room, where an inpatient nurse will be waiting to receive the patient.
HAND HYGIENE
Hand washing is essential for successful outcomes. Please practice proper handwashing by washing your hands with either soap or sanitizer, when entering and exiting the patient’s room and before touching the patient. This is for patient safety and helps reduce potentially harmful bacteria in the healthcare environment.
Our mission is to serve with compassion. As a guest at Hamilton Medical Center, it is our pleasure to ensure that your preferences and needs are met. If we can assist you in any way during your visit, please let us know.
