This program is designed to guide you through the transition to becoming a strong, confident nurse who provides nothing short of excellent care. We want you to excel in your new professional career.
During the week, you will work with your preceptor to learn how to be an Emergency Department (ED) nurse. One day a week, the Nurse Residency Program members will gather together and
learn vital information to help you navigate your way through the ED.
You will also be certified in ACLS and PALS by the end of this program.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
• What are the requirements to qualify for the Nurse Residency Program?
You must be a New Graduate Nurse with no nursing experience to qualify for the Nurse Residency Program.
• Do I have to pass boards before starting the Nurse Residency Program?
No. We understand it takes time to get a test date. You may start our residency program while waiting for your NCLEX. You will work in a Nurse Extern position until you pass the boards. Once your license has been posted, you will be transferred into a Nurse Role. Once you know your results, please communicate with the ED administrative team.
• What if I do not pass my NCLEX on the first attempt?
We still want you to come to Residency!
Cassidy recently graduated from Lee University’s Nursing program in May 2022 with her Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She knew that the ED was the place for her after suffering a personal loss in an ED that emphasized her calling to be a nurse. She joined our ED as an RN in July of 2022.
• How does the Nurse Residency Program affect my orientation to the Emergency Department?
The ED Nurse Residency is designed to enhance your preceptorship. Once you pass your NCLEX, our ED Nurse Educator will assign you a preceptor to be with for 12 weeks. The Nurse Residency Program lasts for a full 12 weeks to assist you into a professional nursing practice.
