Hamilton’s Neonatal Transport Team reaches out to surrounding counties and will travel via a Specialty Mobile Medical Unit to other hospitals to stabilize and transport babies in need of advanced care provided by Hamilton’s Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).

The members of the transport team are specially trained neonatal nurse practitioners, registered nurses and respiratory therapists, who are capable of offering intensive monitoring and care to babies born too small or too ill. As soon as the team arrives at Hamilton’s NICU with your baby, a member of the team will call you to provide an update on your baby’s condition.

 

Dave and Jennifer Clark’s Story:

“I had a perfectly normal full-term pregnancy, labor, and delivery,” says Jennifer. “We didn’t think we would need the services of a NICU. It wasn’t until Hattie was born that we were told that she was having trouble breathing.”

Hamilton’s Neonatal Transport Team was dispatched to the nursery at Gordon Hospital, and Hattie was taken to Hamilton’s NICU.

When the team arrived at Hamilton, Hattie received the advanced care she needed while giving her family the comfort and privacy of a single family room inside of our NICU. As Hattie’s condition improved, she and her family rested in a calm, protected environment where Jennifer could breastfeed in privacy and where she, as well as David and baby Hattie, could rest and be under the watchful eye of the NICU care team.
