Calling an ambulance can be the difference between life and death.  The people who take your call are trained to help you and will direct you to the appropriate resources. Ambulance paramedics can always attend, assess and then leave the person at home if they do not require further emergency treatment.

Non-Emergency Transport

This is ambulance transportation for medical appointments (like kidney dialysis, wound therapy, cancer treatment, radiology, and physician appointments).

Information needed for transportation

• Member’s name
• Member’s telephone number
• Destination facility’s name and address
• Member’s home address (including county)
• Member’s social security number
• Member’s date of birth
• Member’s room number (nursing home, hospital)
• Destination contact person with phone number
• Any medical equipment required

Specialty Care Transport

Hamilton’s Neonatal Transport Team reaches out to surrounding counties and will travel via a Specialty Mobile Medical Unit to other hospitals to stabilize and transport babies in need of advanced care provided by Hamilton’s Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).

The members of the transport team are specially trained neonatal nurse practitioners, registered nurses and respiratory therapists, who are capable of offering intensive monitoring and care to babies born too small or too ill. As soon as the team arrives at Hamilton’s NICU with your baby, a member of the team will call you to provide an update on your baby’s condition.
