DALTON, Ga. (July 13, 2026) – Norma Mishoe and her husband, Kenny, were visiting family and enjoying a grandson’s ballgame when she had a fall that fractured both her ankles and sent her on a months-long rehabilitation journey.
Now, the Milton, Fla., resident is back home — but with a renewed appreciation for Regency Park Health and Rehabilitation, part of Hamilton Long Term Care, where she recovered and became mobile again.
Mishoe received physical and occupational therapy services from late-April to mid-June at Regency Park. At first, recovering from surgery on one side and still unable to walk on the other, she thought life had changed permanently. She could do almost nothing for herself.
“As time progressed, with the optimistic support and tremendous care from the CNAs and nurses at Regency, along with the incredible expertise of Deniece Masters and all in the PT [physical therapy] department and Aimee Raley from the OT [occupational therapy] department, I literally saw improvement every day,” Mishoe said. “Each day, those two had so many exercises and maneuvers to help me learn how to navigate life while in rehab and eventually at home.”
Today, Mishoe is still progressing in her rehabilitation. She encourages anyone facing a similarly long recovery road to trust the process, and to follow the lead of the therapists who have been trained to teach patients how to exercise in ways that help them return to as much normalcy as possible while healing.
Masters said Mishoe’s husband was her biggest cheerleader, and she worked hard.
“One of the things I admired was her determination throughout the process,” Masters said. “Despite physical challenges and setbacks, she approached therapy with a positive attitude and willingness to work hard. Her goal to return to Florida was evident from day one.”
Mishoe said that if the accident had to happen to her she’s glad that it happened here.
“I received the most wonderful care from Regency Park — and we got to see our son and his family more often than we would have if it had occurred in Florida,” she said.
