Quinton Memorial Health and Rehabilitation in Dalton recently hosted a pageant for its residents. During the event, residents had the opportunity to share their sense of style and heartfelt stories with the rest of the center’s residents, family members and a panel of judges.
“With much support from local businesses, our staff and volunteers, we were able to put on an event that our residents and families continue to rave about!” said ReKeenya Cunningham, activity director of Quinton Memorial. “Our residents really enjoyed having such a great community of people come together and celebrate them in such a fun and unique way!”
The winner of the pageant was Jean Scott from Dalton. She has many interests and is always excited to try new activities. She specifically enjoys swimming and doing arts and crafts. She loves spending time with her family and visits from her friends. She has one daughter, one son and one grandson.
“Ms. Scott is such a loving and caring individual who knows no stranger.” said Cunningham. “She’s always encouraging everyone she encounters and leaves an impression on them with her loving and witty personality – whether she knows them or not.”
“I never thought I’d be in something like this but I’m thankful and enjoyed myself!” said Scott. Nine other residents participated in the pageant. They are: Patricia Cordell, Susie Westmoreland, Katherine Weldon, Peggy Stinson, Peggy Berry, Della Bailey, Marlene Hall, Marilyn Allen and Dimple Terrell.
Scott is eligible to serve as the local representative to the annual Ms. Georgia Health Care Association (GHCA) pageant which will be conducted on Aug. 17 at the Macon Marriott City Center in Macon, Ga. This statewide pageant provides an opportunity to shine a light on the residents of Georgia’s nursing homes and the dedicated individuals who care for them.
The GHCA is a non-profit association of skilled nursing centers, assisted living communities and home and community-based case managers called SOURCE/CCSP. Advocates for Georgia’s elderly since 1953, the Association represents the best interests of patients, residents and consumers as well as owners, administrators and other personnel.
