DALTON, Ga. (January 26, 2026) – Designed to create an accessible, convenient way for local families to donate life-saving human milk for medically fragile infants, a human milk depot has opened at Hamilton Medical Center (HMC).
The milk depot is a partnership with the nonprofit Mothers’ Milk Bank at Austin. The Dalton location is a collection site where approved donors drop off milk that is then sent to be processed and distributed.
“It goes to the most medically needy children,” said Leetta Stanley, international board-certified lactation consultant for HMC. Stanley oversees the program at HMC.
Stanley said the drop-off location is part of a broader community outreach to help educate the community about the importance of breastfeeding.
“The body can break down breast milk easier than it can break down formula, and for our most medically fragile newborns, it is even more important,” she said.

The depot is in the Turner Maternal & Infant Care Center. Donors must be approved in advance and are asked to start the process at milkbank.org/donate.
