Hamilton Medical Center (HMC) recently received the Top Performer Award through Vizient MidSouth for achievements in its total joint and spine program.
As a Total Joint and Spine (TJS) collaborative member, HMC has worked to reduce readmissions, cost per case and length of stay.
Comprised of 11 member organizations, participants collaborated to address the future of bundled payments which included care across the continuum, pre-operative physician office visits, pre-operative education and preparation, pre- and intra-operative care, hospital inpatient and outpatient care and discharge follow-up.
Vizient MidSouth members that participated in the group meetings, webinars and conference calls received education from leading practice experts, learned how to use comparative data and benefited from coaching calls from Vizient MidSouth performance improvement staff which helped them maintain project momentum.
In 2016, the collaborative reported over $5.6 million in savings/cost avoidance. While the group contributed to the overall number, the top three members that submitted data, consistently participated and produced significant documented value received Top Performer awards.
Vizient MidSouth is a membership alliance for not-for-profit health care providers that exists to ensure its members deliver cost-effective care by connecting them with the knowledge, solutions and expertise that accelerate performance.
