Carrie McDougal, RN, renal unit; and Jerry Long, clinical education specialist; recently received the Hamilton Hero Award for displaying an extraordinary commitment to the values of Hamilton Health Care System during life-saving events.
McDougal came upon a motorcycle accident recently. The rider was unresponsive, so she started CPR and got a pulse back before first responders arrived.
Long and his wife were traveling when they witnessed an accident. Long and a bystander were able to free the driver, and Long began to clean the driver’s wounds and comforted her until EMS arrived. Long provided report to EMS personnel as they took over.
“The actions of these associates show the kind of people they are,” said Jason Hopkins, Human Resources director. “To step up and help those in need while not on duty is certainly extraordinary.”
