Hamilton Medical Center is excited about our community-based Family Medicine program that provides a diverse mix of patients, supervising physician teachers, and staff. Residents in our program receive instruction from both full-time Hamilton-employed physicians and community-based faculty members. Training occurs conveniently within the Hamilton Health Care System. We are proud of our accreditation with the Accreditation Council of Graduate Medical Education (ACGME).”
Our goal of career preparation and education focuses on producing the highest quality, patient-focused, general Family Medicine residency graduates possible. We embrace the six core competencies and milestones as highlighted by the ACGME, and craft our education to ensure each resident has a maximal opportunity to master these topics. The medical field has constantly evolving expectations and requirements, and achieving this goal necessitates that we embrace change, identify and create opportunities for improvement, innovate to solve problems and promote the advancement, and treat every resident as an individual with a voice in their educational process.
Our residency educational curriculum encompasses a wide variety of topics and formats that aim to provide our residents with a well-rounded experience. The foundation of our program is the Family Medicine Continuity Clinic which is complemented by a variety of inpatient and outpatient experiences. Our dedicated educational activities also include an academic half-day with topics covering the breadth of family medicine and simulation lab experiences addressing inpatient and outpatient procedures and patient scenarios.
Our residents will have frequent opportunities to provide feedback and input into the program. This is accomplished through monthly administrative updates, regularly scheduled town hall meetings, and system committee membership as well as hospital and program leadership open-door policies.
We invite all medical students to learn more about our residency and hope you will consider our program for the next step in your professional education. Whether you aspire to a career in primary care, hospital medicine, or fellowship training, this program plans to help meet your academic needs in a collegial, comfortable, learner-centered environment with a great work-life balance.
