At the Georgia Hospital Association (GHA) Patient Safety and Quality Summit held in January, GHA presented its prestigious Patient Safety and Quality Award to Hamilton Medical Center (HMC).

HMC was recognized for its project, titled “Employing a Multidisciplinary Approach to Pressure Injury Prevention,” which reduced the incidence of pressure injuries in patients. The project won first place in the Hospitals with 100-299 Beds category. Tyler Weldon, director of Medical Surgical Nursing, gave the presentation at the Summit.
“Excellence in patient safety is achieved through collaboration,” said Judean Guinn, vice president and chief nursing officer. “This award honors the dedication of our multidisciplinary team, led by Tyler, whose teamwork and commitment ensure the highest standards of care for every patient, every time.”
The awards recognize Georgia health care organizations for achievement in reducing the risk of medical errors and improving patient safety and medical outcomes.
